If you’re not familiar with perspective, you’ve probably at least seen it before and maybe you even felt intimidated by it—and for good reason! Perspective can be frightening if you don’t understand what you’re looking at, which leads a lot of artists, both young and old, to decide that they are going to skip learning it and just hope it’s not too important. Even the most ambitious artists—people who commit to teaching themselves to draw or even go to a fancy art schools to master their craft— often get scared away from perspective by the way it is taught.

And again—for good reason!

Far too often, perspective is not well taught on a beginner level, and the people that do understand it—pro artists, instructional book authors, and professors—know perspective so well that they tend to over-complicate it and confuse their students, skipping over the basics and overwhelming them with examples and illustrations that are too complex.

But even with all this drama and avoidance surrounding it, perspective is still a vital skill for any artist. Perspective is what allows you to draw correct forms of any kind. Perspective is what creates a believable sense of space in your drawings. Perspective is what controls how large or small objects appear. Perspective is often the main difference between a good drawing and a bad drawing—a drawing where you guessed everything and felt confused and frustrated the whole time you were working on it, or a drawing where you knew exactly how to make what you wanted, from beginning to end!

That is why this course exists: because perspective is vital, and perspective can be easy!

  • You will learn from the detailed and technically-minded artist Clara Meath (Edgar Allan Poe’s The Conqueror Worm, Mother’47).
  • You’ll get Clara’s lessons and lectures and discussions!

Featured Work

The most informative and arguably the most needed class offered for students of the arts! Or so we believe. We focus this class on making your scene “believable”. As it turns out, your entire story will depend on it.

Take a look at nearly every creative product that is focused on character and you’ll see backgrounds. Comics, Movies, Animation, Video Games, and Cover Illustration all take a character and place them in an environment to tell a story. If done successfully, that environment should tell you just as much about the story as the characters themselves. For that to work, the world you create to put your character in MUST be believable.

Storytelling is great, but what if I don’t know the first thing about perspective?

Have no fear; our courses are geared for the beginner as well as the experienced artist. Clara will take you from the ground up focusing on how to build your environments from scratch. Then help develop your work to a level that you can start incorporating other tools to speed up the process.
