As we recently relaunched the site with new “On-Demand” courses where you can access the lessons whenever you want and you have access essentially forever, we’ve been met with a huge amount of demand to bring our “Live” courses back where you don’t just watch video lessons, but instead are in your virtual classroom live with your instructor the whole time.
Logistically, this means the class is held at a specific time, but your instructor–your working comics professional–is right there with you and giving you personal feed back on your work.
If you can’t make it to the live night, they are recorded just for you specific class and the videos are posted soon so you can still make it to everything.
What surprised me is that the bulk of our research before making this change to the “On-Demand” courses, was telling us that people would prefer the On-Demand version. But as soon as we launched them, we started getting requests for the live courses, too.
What was even more surprising was how many people wanted both! They wanted the live courses with the interaction AND they wanted the “On-Demand” versions.
Honestly, this was music to my ears. It’s a lot more fun for the instructors to interact with their students and not just their computer camera and screen sharing. It’s really awesome for us to get to know our students on a more personal level.
And I always thought that it was best for students to get that attention and interaction as well. But people wanted everything on-demand these days and faster and so I am delighted (wow, I sound old) to bring a few of our live courses back right at the start of 2025.
We’ll start with Introduction to Comics Coloring taught by the amazing Christopher Sotomayor and Introduction to Comics Writing taught by award-winning comics writer Paul Allor.
And because people seem to want both, for this week only, we’ve got a special offer in which you can get the Live course AND the On Demand version at a massive discount. This offer lasts for just this week and ends this weekend. But we thought it a nice way to bring the courses back and celebrate all the ways people like to get their course content!
If you’ve been asking (and there’s a decent chance you have been) for the return of the live courses, now’s the time to sign up! Both courses start the first week of February and spots are limited!
We hope to see you there!
And that’s my two staples’ worth….
