James Tynion IV

James Tynion IV is the writer of the New York Times Best-Selling BATMAN/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES cross-over for DC Comics and IDW Publishing, as well as JUSTICE LEAGUE, JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK and DETECTIVE COMICS for DC Comics.

He is best known for his work on the Batman titles, and the Batman Family characters. He is also the writer of several critically acclaimed creator owned titles for BOOM! Studios, including THE BACKSTAGERS, MEMETIC, and THE WOODS, which is currently in development for television by Universal Cable Productions for the SyFy channel, and won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Series in 2017.

He lives and works with his partner in Brooklyn, NY.

Absolutely not. This is a course about creating and writing comics. It’s an in-depth discussion, but we strive to make sure that our conversational tone is inclusive to our wide range of attendees’ experience.

What computer programs do I need for this course?
None at all. Though we will talk about some programs, you’re not going to be asked to use any of them during the seminar.

If I don’t want a career in comics, and just like making comics or even just want to learn more about the art form I love, is the Master Seminar right for me?
